A Dream Come True
As a young boy watching the parade of WWII aircraft fill the skies, I always wished to be able to fly any of them. The CG did have some PB-1Gs (B-17s) and did get aboard them; I also had the joy of training in the SNJ, and flying the T-28B (Not a WWII ship, but close in performance. Then I had the good fortune to meet and attend a philanthropic gentleman's presentation of the P-51 history held in his hangar. On display were four ships and a Merlin engine. Ten tables of ten were arranged in the center, each with one WWII combat pilot. I would be able later to fly with him in Diamondback - a dream come true.
